Yoga Therapy
What’s the difference between a yoga class and a yoga therapy session?
In a yoga class, the practitioner, generally speaking, is in physically stable health. The individual is seeking to practice a particular yoga form and expand his/her/their knowledge of that form by moving through physical postures, breath practices, and meditations. Each class exposes the practitioner to new postures and techniques.
When an individual seeks out a yoga therapist, he/she/they is typically needing relief from chronic pain, assistance processing through a fatal or potentially fatal diagnosis, or is recovering from injury. Therefore, the yoga therapy session focuses on applying yoga techniques to improve the individual’s daily life experience, works to reduce pain, and improve physical, mental, and emotional health. The individual typically works with a few yoga practices, incrementally deepening his/her/their relationship with each practice for a very specific purpose.
What should I expect from my yoga therapy session with Leilani?

This is life; it is nothing to be ashamed of nor is it a reason to feel like a failure. You are on a journey and you will be supported.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR ILLNESS
We will uncover your beliefs about yourself and your relationship with your health. You will learn how to shift your perspective, gain independence, and create self-care practices through the application of yogic science.
