Stretch Bodywork

Combining active, dynamic, and restorative stretch poses with hands-on assists. The goal of Stretch Bodywork is to assist you in coming into your own mobility and stability goals, empowering you to confidently move all the ways you love to, knowing that your body will support you.

Often times when we are in pain or over stressed it can be difficult to move because of stiffness and inflammation. In working with Leilani you will learn how to safely move at a pace that reflects your mobility and goals.

​

In our one on one sessions, we work to stimulate better communication between your joints and the nervous system. We will mindfully stretch the body through graded exposure therapy, incrementally teaching your nervous system that a joint is safe in unfamiliar or previously traumatic territory. We will also mindfully stretch the soft connective tissue surrounding the joints to increase their capacity to resist tensile load, effectively increasing the strength of a specific joint and allowing for greater movements.

What Stretch Bodywork DOES

We are working to stimulate better communication between your joints and the nervous system.

By mindfully stretching the body, we engage graded exposure therapy, incrementally teaching your nervous system that a joint is safe in unfamiliar or previously traumatic territory.

​

Stretching the soft connective tissue surrounding a joint increases its capacity to resist tensile load; it does not make the connective tissue longer.

Being stationary for long periods of time directly impacts our tissues. When we don’t move, fluid is forced out of our tissues, lowering the pH levels and causing tissues to be more acidic and dry.

 

This shift triggers the nervous system, heightening sensor responses and firing danger messages to be sent to the brain.
